Description
Just inland from the coast, this happy family holiday home is well equipped and within easy striking distance of the salty sea air. Dating back to the 18th century, it is located in a quiet country lane just a short walk away from the award-winning Wiveton Bell pub and close to some endearing coastal villages, most of which are set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The coastal marshes, ideal for year-round walking and birdwatching are within easy reach and the stunning and sandy beaches of Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea are a 20 minute drive away.
The design style of the house is elegant with plenty of spacious accommodation both upstairs and down. The kitchen has a warming Rayburn range cooker and one of the living rooms has an inviting snuggle chair, just the place to curl up in front of the woodburner after a bracing shoreline walk. There are some attractive artworks in the house and plenty of books about the local culture and landscape to intrigue. A unique feature of the house is the Garden Room, which gives two guests a private space to stay with their own en-suite facilities and living space.
Boasting a total of two sitting rooms, a dining room, kitchen/breakfast room, conservatory, three bedrooms and three bathroom facilities, the house happily accommodates up to six guests and four paws are welcome too.
On the outskirts of the village lies Wiveton Hall, renowned from its appearance in two BBC series of 'Normal For Norfolk'. Here you will find a lovely year-round restaurant/cafe overlooking the marshes, which also runs tapas and BBQ nights in the summer, offers seasonal pick-your-own and has a good farm and gift shop.
Whilst staying at Wiveton explore the numerous coastal villages, all with their own unique style. Cley-next-the-Sea is marked out by art galleries, the smokehouse, an excellent delicatessen/farm shop, its famous windmill where you can book for dinner and, on its outskirts the Cley Marshes visitor centre - a great place to start bird watching. Blakeney has a lovely selection of local restaurants, gift shops, a good delicatessen and coastal walks. From Blakeney or nearby Morston, trips are available to see the local seal colony at Blakeney Point, come in the winter and catch a glimpse of the new seal pups from November onwards. Drop into Stiffkey and take a look into the charming village store - you may just find the best brownies in Norfolk here! Shop:1 mile. Pub:within walking distance.
