Nothing quite beats a ride on a steam train. Is it the smell of the coals, the orginal fixtures and fittings, or the slower pace of life? We don't really know. What you can be sure of, is that as the engine pulls away you can forget about your worries and cares for a while. Here are our two favourite coastal railways...
The Poppy Line
Running from Sheringham to Holt, this heritage railway runs a mixture of steam and diesel trains, as well as hosting a range of wonderful events harking back to a bygone era. With nostalgia and incredible coastal views in equal abundance, a trip is highly recommended.
Wells to Walsingham Light Railway
Why wouldn’t you hop on this light railway - the longest 10¼" narrow gauge steam railway in the world? Dog-friendly and running between one of country’s favourite coastal towns and religious epicentres, it makes for a wonderful day out.
